A Few Words About Me...
Me circa 1982 - little did I know the journey that lay ahead :)
I am an Irish Integrative Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist practising in Wicklow/South Dublin area of Kilternan.
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa and moved to Ireland in 2004.
I hold an M.A. in Child & Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapy, securing a 1st Class Honours. I also hold a B.A. Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and qualified with a distinction in the BA Ordinary Level Degree Programme from the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP, Dublin).
During my Masters in Child and Adolescent Counselling I completed my Thesis that was entitled : Are they “Invisible Children” in an “Invisibly Violent System”? – A Qualitative Exploration of Service Providers’ Experiences working with Children Seeking International Protection in Ireland, I received a distinction. A copy of my paper and findings can be found in the blog section. This research was also published in the Summer Edition of the Irish Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy, 2024.
I work, in person, full time in my private practice in Kilternan four days a week.
I previously have worked with the following reputable organisations, The Village Counselling Service (Tallaght), Living life Counselling (Bray), MyMind (Dublin), The Wicklow Child and Family Project Centre (Wicklow) and Rise Counselling (Kilcoole).
I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and I am a member of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in the UK. I am bound by IACP's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also committed to continuous professional development and attend workshops and seminars regularly to ensure I am as up to date as possible with issues that my clients might be struggling with.
I am also a registered Psychotherapist with Laya Healthcare [Reg number : 12446]. Please check your health policy to ensure psychotherapy is covered before commencing. If psychotherapy is covered in your policy, I can provide you with a statement of payments once you have completed your sessions and that can be used to start your claim process with your health insurance company.
